A new diagnosis of cancer for any patient is devastating and comes with learning needs, care, and adjustments. Add to that a young age, sudden admission to a hospital, urgency of starting treatment, and a multitude of concerns about fertility and sexuality, and you have the perfect storm. Come and witness the role a nurse plays in this situation to provide the complex care required to meet an AYA patient’s needs.

Carol Cannon, RN, BSN, OCN®, CHPN

Carol Cannon is a Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant nurse in Boston, MA. She and her husband previously lived in Texas and Maryland, where Carol gained experience in critical care, oncology education and hospice. Her work-related passions include palliative care and the use of social media in professional practice. This is her second year serving on the ONS Congress Planning Team.
